What is flash steam?

The steam formed when the hot condensate under a certain pressure evaporates again due to the pressure difference is called flash steam.
In other words, raw steam is generated from boilers and steam generators, while flash steam is generated when high-temperature condensate under high pressure is discharged from traps and other equipment to a low-pressure environment.

When water is at atmospheric pressure, 100°C is the maximum temperature allowed for liquid water at that pressure. Reheating also doesn't raise the temperature of the water, and liquid water doesn't stay liquid, causing it to turn into flash steam.
